American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Juneau County

Description: Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society-signature activity. It offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. It has been described as a huge compassionate support group- a place where friends, family and loved ones join to celebrate survivorship and to honor those who have lost the battle. Relay For Life involves teams of 8-15 people who take turns walking or running around a track all night long. A party-like atmosphere prevails as team members camp out on the surrounding grounds for the duration of the event to enjoy music, food, fun, entertainment and activities while building camaraderie with fellow teammates and participants. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment. No matter who you are, there's a place for you at Relay. Money is raised through team commitment fees and an individual goal of $100 in donations secured from family, friends, companies or corporations. Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight. Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing. Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease. Opening Ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm on Friday, July 24th. At 10:00 pm will be the Luminaria Ceremony which remembers those lost to cancer and honors cancer survivors in Juneau County. Closing/Fight Back Ceremony will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday. Food and activities will be available all night long!! Come and join us this year as we will be Roping For a Cure!

WATERFEST VENETIAN LIGHTS BOAT PARADE

Description: The 10th Annual Touchstone Energy Waterfest Venetian Lights Boat Parade, Saturday August 1st. Got a boat? Decorate it and enter the parade! The parade starts out from the bay at Dirty Turtle and will travel south along the Juneau County shoreline at sunset. A Dazzeling firework display will be set off at Castle Rock County Park to herald the end of the splendid evening voyage. If you just plan on being a spectator, be sure to come early and get a front row seat at the Castle Rock County Park, there will activities in the park, a lite your site contest for campers at the park, and more. The businesses on the lake will be offering Waterfest specials and live music that evening. Make a day of it... hit the Mauston Sidewalk Sales and Citywide Garage Sales then head out to the lake! It's sure to be a fun-filled day and evening!

Friends & Family Cancer Foundation Fundraiser

Description: The Friends & Family Cancer Foundation is committed to assisting YOUR friends and family in Juneau, Sauk and Adams Counties with the costs associated with living with cancer. When this disease strikes, many families suffer financially when one is no longer able to work full-time. Dollars raised are used for such items as gas cards to get patients to treatment and doctor appointments; certificates to help put food on the table; and help with the cost of heating homes. The board of directors, lawyer and accountant are all volunteer and accept no payment for their work. 100% of Funds raised STAYS in the three county area. Start off the Labor Day weekend in Lyndon Station by enjoying a Kickball Tournament Friday night at the park. Food and drinks will be available. The event continues into Saturday with a Pancake Breakfast in the morning along with a visit from Smoky Bear followed by local singers and musicians and a live band. Raffles, door prizes, food and drinks are available. Take part in the heart warming balloon release in memory and honor of those you love who have been affected by cancer.
