JC-SBDG Round 2: Patent and Registration Support
This grant funding is intended for individuals or businesses that wish to obtain legal protection for a product idea or intellectual property. It can be spent on legal guidance and registration of patents, trademarks, service marks, and copyrights. It can also be spent on the creation of prototypes or other necessary components of the registration process.
In addition to this JC-SBDG funding program there are a great deal of resources and low/no-cost loans available for starting a business, and possibly even additional grant funding. As part of your application we will service JCEDC will provide you information on these programs and keep you posted as additional resources become available in the future.

Total award is up to $5000, which includes 2 parts

Round 2 Application Window is Open 8/1/25 - 9/30/25
Total award is up to $5000, which includes 2 parts
- The Project Part is up to $4500 and can be applied directly towards any of the abovementioned patent and registration expenses
- The Continuing Education Part is up to $500 and can be applied to training, coaching, mentoring, mastermind groups, seminars, or other educational products/ services that would support and enhance your entrepreneurial, leadership, strategic, or business development skills
Key Dates
- Application Deadline is 5pmCT on 9/30/25 and will be timestamped via the online application portal
- Notification of Awards will occur by 5pmCT on 10/15/25 via email
- Purchase receipts that are eligible for reimbursement with these grant funds must be dated within 30 days prior to application submission timestamp, and 30 days following notification of award approval (for example, if you submit your application on 9/1/25 and are notified of award on 10/15/25 then your eligible receipt window is 8/1/25 through 11/15/25)
- Reimbursement Request with Receipts and Final Documentation Deadline is 5pmCT on 11/15/25
- Expected reimbursement window is 1/2/26—1/31/26
- Round 2 will award up to 10 MicroGrants of up to a combined total of $5000 each (total includes up to $4500 for Project Part and up to $500 for Continuing Education Part)
