16th Annual Waterfest – August 1, 2015
Feel lucky? You could earn some money while you’re having a great time. Just decorate your boat with any items, like Christmas lights, Venetian lights, etc., “costume up” and enter the 16th Annual Touchstone Energy Waterfest Venetian Lights Boat Parade! This yearly event is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2015 on beautiful Castle Rock Lake. There will be a $500 “Best of Fleet” prize, plus first, second and third place cash prizes in two categories, commercial and residential. Participants are also entered into a drawing for additional prizes. Registration is free and forms are available at various locations or you may print them off at www.juneaucounty.com/waterfest. Participants in the parade can receive a $25.00 gas card the evening of the event if they return their registration prior to the 4th of July! So don’t delay, enter now!
The parade begins at O’Dell’s Bay near the Dirty Turtle at sunset, traveling along the shoreline to Castle Rock County Park where the grand finale of fireworks is set off at 10:00 p.m. Splash Waterfront Bar & Grill on Dakota Lane in Friendship also does a magnificent fireworks display at about the same time. The parade can be viewed from the Castle Rock County Park and at various establishments along the shore. Bring a flashlight to signal the entrants and show them you like their decorated boats!
You can also take a drive through Juneau County Castle Rock Park after dark to see the lighted campsites for their “Light Your Site” contest. Earlier in the day, many other activities are going on in the park so bring the kids and have a great time.
This event is funded by local businesses in appreciation and support of tourism in our area. Tourism has a huge economic impact on our local economy, so we at JCEDC encourage our local businesses to take advantage of this busy weekend by advertising Waterfest specials.
Major Sponsors in 2014 included Oakdale Electric Cooperative, your Touchstone Energy Partner, Town of Strong’s Prairie, Lemonweir Valley Telcom, City of New Lisbon, City of Mauston, Adams-Columbia Electric Co-op, Mauston Chamber, Alliant Energy, Royal Bank, Phillips Pharmacies, Oakdale Credit Union, Festival Foods, Fountain Chateau, The Dirty Turtle, Robison’s Stump Grinding, Town of Germantown, Castle Rock Marine, Eagle Promotions, Carlson’s Rustic Ridge, WRJC Radio, the New Lisbon Chamber, and Subway of Necedah. Other important sponsors included businesses and people who donated items used for prizes. All of our sponsors are so appreciated. Without them there would be no Waterfest!
Sponsors receive many incentives, so if your business would like to be listed as a sponsor in the advertising, print and radio, just give us a call. Waterfest is a non-profit event. All proceeds are used for event expenses and promotion.
